WeConnect Series
The We Connect project was a strategic initiative to bridge the communication gap between leadership and over 14,000 employees across Wells Fargo India and the Philippines. The Head of India and Philippines sought to launch a monthly email newsletter and a dedicated website, creating a direct, consistent, and personal channel to share critical updates and insights with the workforce.
The Challenge
The objective was to build a comprehensive communication ecosystem from the ground up. This involved not only designing a cohesive brand identity but also creating a dynamic monthly email newsletter that seamlessly linked to a new internal website. This website would serve as the central hub for all content, offering a unified source of truth for employees. We had to create a solution that was not only engaging but also scalable and sustainable for a large, diverse audience.
The Solution
We initiated the project with a series of design thinking sessions to define the platform's core identity. This process led to the name "We Connect," a title that perfectly captured our goal of fostering constant communication between leaders and employees. We carefully ideated the content strategy, designing a magazine-style, minimalist layout that would appeal to our audience. Inspired by high-end publications like The New Yorker and Reader's Digest, we crafted a sophisticated user experience that still aligned with Wells Fargo's brand guidelines.
A major hurdle emerged when we discovered the technical limitations of SharePoint, our internal web hosting platform. With a tight deadline and a short timeline for publication, I pivoted from our approved designs, navigating the tool's constraints to adapt my concepts without compromising the overall vision. This rapid problem-solving, coupled with constant collaboration with stakeholders in both India and the Philippines to gather content, ensured we met our goal. The final product was a resounding success, earning praise from leadership for its clean design, thoughtful content, and effective communication.
